Bed Sales -- It Doesn't Have to Be So ConfusingFirst, there are several different types of beds on the market. You have memory foam beds, water beds, air beds, latex beds, as well as traditional spring mattress beds. Each individual has their own personal preferences; it is best if you go to a store and check out their beds in person. You can get an idea of what types of beds work best for you. It is especially important to check out several beds in person before doing your research online. This is because beds come in several different levels of firmness. Some of the higher end beds, such as the Sleep-Comfort series of beds, allow you to dial in the exact level of firmness which is right for you. Of course, the Sleep-Comfort beds will cost considerably more than just a basic bed. Beds come in a few standard sizes: twin, full, queen, king, and cal-king. The twin bed is the smallest, perfect for one person. Full bed is a little bit wider than the twin bed. The king size bed is the size of two full beds, and the cal-king bed is the same size as a king bed, just longer. Don't forget, you actually have to move the bed too. Many consumers buy gigantic beds, only to realize that they do not fit through the door frame. Be sure your bed can actually make it into the bedroom. So you've done your research and have decided what type of bed you are looking for. Now comes the hardest part: buying the bed. You have two options when purchasing beds: you can either buy the bed online, or buy it in person. When purchasing a bed online, you will often find the price to be considerably lower than purchasing a bed in person. This is because the internet retailer does not have to pay the same overhead costs that a brick and mortar store has to. This leads us to the next often unknown point - bed prices are negotiable. The great thing about buying a bed in person instead of buying it online is that you actually get to lie down on the bed and try it out. On top of that, you can negotiate with the salesperson on the cost of the bed. With this tough economy, bed salesmen are looking to make any sale they can. Note that when buying a bed in person, it can be difficult to compare prices because there are so many different makes and models. This is why you should get a general idea of what features cost how much and from what brands. If you arm yourself with knowledge, buying a bed is cake. |
