Your Guide to Buy a Bicycle

In today's increasingly difficult economy, more and more consumers are ditching their cars to buy bicycle. That's right, as amazing as it sounds consumers are downsizing from four wheels to two. Let's say you've already made that decision to buy bicycle, just what type of bicycle should you get? Should you buy a road bicycle, or mountain bicycle? Your choice will depend greatly on how you will choose to use it.

The first thing you should consider when you buy bicycle is what type of terrain you will be driving on. If you are driving on long, flat stretches of land, you will probably want a road bike. Road bikes generally have narrow wheels and are designed for smooth, flat pavement. There are many famous road bicycle manufacturers, such as Specialized and Trek. It is important to do your research before you go and buy a road bike; make sure it is the right fit for you.

Alternatively, if you will be forced to ride through dirt, grass, gravel, or sand, you may want to look at mountain bicycles. Mountain bicycles have much larger wheels, and often have shocks to absorb the impact of bumps in the road. Some mountain bike manufacturers include Mongoose and GT.

If you're a young hip cool kid, maybe you don't want to buy these types of bicycles. Maybe you would prefer a BMX type bicycle. A BMX bicycle can be easily distinguished by its small size. These bicycles are often low to the ground, and have a much lower center of gravity. While great for riding short distances, due to their smaller wheels they require considerable energy to drive long distances. GT is the largest manufacturer of BMX bicycles.

Perhaps you are going to college, or live by the beach. In this case, you might want to consider buying a beach cruiser bicycle. These types of bicycles are easily distinguished by their large wheels, cool handle bars, and single gearing. While they may be fun to drive on level surfaces, because of its single gearing and large wheels, they are impossible to drive uphill. Schwinn is a common beach bicycle brand.

You can go just about anywhere to buy bicycle. Many people go to retail stores because they want to sit down and try out the bicycle before they buy. Others buy bicycle online because it is usually cheaper than buying from a bicycle shop. Some people even buy bicycle on craigslist.com or eBay.com.

When buying a bicycle from eBay.com or online, it is important to consider how much the shipping is. Sometimes, the cost of the shipping will make it more expensive to buy bicycle online versus buy bicycle at the store.

The cost to buy bicycle can vary greatly. Novice and used bicycles you can buy for as low as $50. Professional bicycles can cost more than some automobiles! When you buy bicycle, it is important that you analyze your needs, wants, and budgetary concerns. People buy bicycle for many reasons, and there has never been a better time to buy.
